CPEC Generating 155,000 Jobs in Pakistan
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China states that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has fostered substantial bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan in the past decade.
The 10th anniversary of CPEC is being celebrated this year, and an official from the NDRC emphasized the positive outcomes of CPEC during a recent press conference. These outcomes encompassed the successful development of Gwadar Port, as well as collaborations in energy, infrastructure, and industry.
The official also stated that several highway construction projects are making progress as planned, and the operational power plants currently provide nearly one-third of Pakistan’s electricity requirements, easing the power shortage situation. The NDRC additionally declared that CPEC had created a total of 236,000 job opportunities by the end of 2022, with 155,000 of those benefiting Pakistani workers.
