Mobilink Microfinance Bank is looking for a senior credit leader to head SME lending decisions in Islamabad. This is a top-level role in the bank's credit function, with charge of how small and medium businesses get assessed, approved and monitored. The person will shape underwriting standards for the SME book, bring in smarter data-led lending tools, and keep the portfolio healthy within the bank's risk appetite and SBP's regulatory framework.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Economics; a Master's degree will be an advantage.
- 8 to 12 years in SME or business credit risk and underwriting at a bank, with at least 3 to 4 years in a portfolio ownership or leadership role.
- Good grip on SBP's SME financing regulations and digital banking framework.
- Hands-on experience judging informal business cash flows and structuring secured or unsecured SME facilities.
- Familiarity with AI or alternate-data credit scoring models, including their governance and monitoring.
- Professional certifications like FRM or CRC are a plus.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Set and own the end-to-end credit assessment and approval process for the bank's SME and microenterprise portfolio.
- Design SME-specific underwriting methods, including cash-flow analysis for informal businesses and proper due diligence.
- Build and lead the bank's AI-driven lending approach, using alternate data like transaction history and telco data to score thin-file borrowers with proper model governance.
- Exercise delegated credit approval authority and sit on SME credit committee reviews for larger exposures.
- Keep a close eye on portfolio quality - NPLs, sector concentration, collateral cover and model performance - and turn findings into policy changes.
- Work with Sales, Product and Technology teams to grow the SME book responsibly and digitise lending journeys.
